Planets by & © D.I.Izzard 1994.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Planets is a simple orrery program. When you run it, a window will open up
with a rather stylised solar system spinning round in it.
If you click the left mouse button in this window, a requester will pop up
which will allow you to change the number of planets displayed (and thus
zoom in). The "Interval" gadget gives the number of days between each dot
in the animation.
Clicking the right mouse button or the zoom gadget in either window will
iconify it (as in OctaMED V5).
You can quit by clicking the close gadget on the animation window.
NOTE:
This program was written as an experiment. In fact, it runs as three
separate processes which communicate amongst themselves constantly.
You will need all the "mathieee" libraries available. While this takes up
disk space, it does mean that FPU owners will get a nice speed improvement.
ASTROPEOPLE:
This program is not all that accurate, but it works up to a point. As
I say, it was only meant as a programming experiment and I did not put
in the distances, velocities and eccentricies to a very high degree of
accuracy. Just try to think of it as a computerised executive toy.
Or maybe as the only Red Dwarf-oriented program on this disk.
If anything goes wrong, ever, in any way, then I accept no responsibility
whatsoever.
